Spring 2011 Field Trip and Annual Meeting

When: May 20th-22nd, 2011
Where: Durango, CO, and vicinity
Cost: Free for all trip activities, $30/per night for lodging.

Itinerary:

  • Friday, May 20, 2011 - no cost
    • 6:00-8:00 - Annual Business Meeting and Social at Steamworks Brewing Company, Downtown Durango.

  • Saturday, May 21, 2011 - no cost
    • 8:00 - Meet at the Capitol Reef Visitor's Center (directions)
We will meet and greet and head to the field station. There will be a brief orientation there, and then we are on our own!
    • 8:00-4:00 - Geologizing* in the San Juan Mountains. (Lunch is included FREE)
    • 4:00 - Ouray Hot Springs - Bring your swimsuit! There is a $10 fee if you choose to attend, which can be paid directly to the Hot Spring.
    • 6:00 - Dinner at
    • Evening talk - Laura Lukes "My Adventures in Greenland" at Fort Lewis College
  • Sunday, May 22, 2010
    • Breakfast on your own...here are some local places, or you can cook at the dorm.
    • 9:00-11:00 - Synthesizing the experience, led by Mike Taber
    • 11:00 - Disband and think of ways to communicate this amazing field trip to generations to come.
*Geologizing - hiking, observing, discussing and interpreting geologic strata of the San Juan Mountains. Hiking may be limited due to group size and snow.
