In this article from the Journal of Distance Education, the results of an interpretive study conducted among adult learners engaged in online study present an intensive look at students' interaction with online community. The study addressed the questions, what types of relationships were established within learning groups, how did students feel about their presence in this type of learning environment and how did they contribute or respond to the conditions that shaped it, and what shaped the development of the online community?
