This report is a synthesis of work by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. It focuses on the observed changes in climate, their causes, and their effects, as well as predicting probable future climate change and its effects. It states that 'Warming of the climate system is unequivocal.' It goes on to say that 'Most of the observed increase in global average temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic GHG [greenhouse gas] concentrations.'
