This site, maintained by Caltech, is a tutorial on the basic principles of phase equilibria. Topics covered include the first and second laws of thermodynamics, equilibrium, Gibbs free energy, chemical potential, the graphical representation of equilibrium conditions, the phase rule, and univariant and invariant assemblages. Also included are several applets that show the results of changes in pressure, temperature or composition.
