Need to stretch your legs after a long day? Check out Ku's Prairie Acre Prairie Acre was established in 1932 and is the last remaining patch of native tallgrass prairie on the KU Lawrence Campus. The site is located south of Blake and Twente Halls. The demonstration garden provides visitors with the chance to get a closer look at many of the native plant species that can be found in Prairie Acre and other remnant tall-grass prairies. The gardens most active bloom period is during the summer months, but contains some species that bloom during the spring and fall. The KU Center for Sustainability invites you to take a moment to walk through the garden, using the informational signs to become familiar with the vegetation that once completely covered Mount Oread.

EarthConnections Alliance Open Meeting-Wednesday 7:00 pm-8:30 pm Ritchie Hall: 366
The EarthConnections Alliance seeks to catalyze a new approach to geoscience education in communities across our country, creating a world in which all students can travel along geo-educational pathways that begin in their early education and continue through college and end in meaningful careers while linking geoscience learning with opportunities to serve their local community. Much work is currently taking place in individual communities and projects to move toward this vision. Participants in this open meeting will discuss how they can work together to support and expand this work. We invite participation by those who have already begun to link geoscience learning to community service at any level, as well as those who are just developing interest.

GER and Geo2YC Division and Friends Social: The Geo2YC and the GER divisions will be co-sponsoring a happy hour event at McClain's Market (located north right across the street from the Geography & Atmospheric Science building and the Earth, Energy, and Environment Center on KU's campus) from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Appetizers will be provided.

LGBTQ+Allies Meetup: We invite any LGBTQ participants and allies to meet up for an informal time of food, drinks, and socializing on Wednesday evening. We'll start the meet-up at 7:00 PM at McClain's Market and go until people lose interest or 9:00 PM when they close. We won't be making a dinner reservation so folks are welcome to drop in for just a few minutes or stay as long as they like. That way, you can attend the joint Geo2YC and GER division happy hour (at the same location!) and then stay for socializing with us! Please contact John McDaris (jmcdaris@carleton.edu, http://serc.carleton.edu/serc/john.html) so we can get a rough head count or if you have any questions.
