  • Learn how academic disciplines are supporting community college instructors and use this information to initiate new projects across disciplines
  • Describe and determine pros and cons of innovative workshops for discipline-based faculty development related to teaching at community colleges
  • Develop plans for regional workshops to support economics instruction in the project's second year

Monday, May 30

5:00 PM Drinks and dinner poolside; Introduction to the project in Sequoia Room

Tuesday, May 31

8:30 AM Plan for the day

9:30 AM Break-out groups prepare reports on:
  • Traveling workshop formats
  • Webinars and asynchronous online workshop formats
  • Regional workshop formats
  • Using Starting Point: Teaching and Learning Economics at community colleges
  • Follow-up and assessment of workshops

11:30 AM How is it going? Whole group discussion of needs for the afternoon

12:00 PM Lunch break in Sequoia Room

1:00 PM Continue work by break-out groups

2:30 PM Break. Refreshments available

3:00-4:30 PM Presentations by break-out groups

  • Economists (by region: East; Midwest; California; Pacific Northwest) Planning outreach and workshop activities for second year of the project

10:30 - 11:30 Reports from morning work groups; evaluation of the workshop; good-byes

11:30 Lunch at the hotel or nearby restaurants (see list in packet)
