2024 Forum Overview

The 2024 Form occurs over four days, Monday-Thursday 24-27 June. The forum is a mix of  field trips, workshops, informal round table discussions, talks, posters, and panels.

Format

Technical sessions:  The main technical sessions will be Tuesday and Wednesday (June 25-26).  We will continuously update the full Program as the Forum approaches. The main Forum program will be built around abstracts solicited from participants.

Field trips and workshops: Optional workshops and fieldtrips will take place on Monday and Thursday (24 and 27 June). Please pre-register for these events when you register for the Forum.

Arrival and departure: Field trips may depart early and return late.  Please plan your travel so that you arrive the evening before the first event that you wish to attend and leave after the last event has concluded.

Registration and abstract deadlines

Submit your abstract by May 31 (see link below).  You do not need to submit an abstract to attend the Forum.

Registration for field trips, workshops and campus housing opens April 22 and closes May 31. [link available soon].

Travel Information, Logistics and costs

Location and facilities: The Forum will be held on campus at Western Washington University, in Bellingham, Washington.

Travel: Bellingham has a small airport (BLI), and there are regular shuttles from the larger Seattle-Tacoma (SEA) and Vancouver (YVR, in Canada).  You can also get to Bellingham by Amtrak train. Additional travel information is provided on the Registration Page.

Lodging: Low cost housing is available on campus in single or shared rooms.  See more information about housing options and costs on the Registration Page.

Meals: Thanks to generous support from the National Science Foundation, most meals during the Forum are no cost to participants.

Registration for the Forum, field trips, and workshops/short courses is free, thanks to funding from NSF.

Travel support.  Thanks to support from NSF and GSA Structural Geology and Tectonics Division, we are able to offer a limited number of travel stipends to partially reimburse travel and lodging costs for some participants. The Finance Committee will be responsible for disbursing these reimbursements, with priority to participants who are early career, and/or are from historically excluded groups and/or have limited/no access to travel funds.
