NAGT brings together about 1800 members who care about Earth education for all. We are committed to transparency and share aggregate data about our membership to further our mission of supporting a diverse, thriving, and inclusive community of educators and education researchers to improve teaching and learning about the Earth.

Employment sector

Our members are educators in a wide variety of settings. About half of our members are employed in higher education, primarily as faculty and instructors. About 8% are employed as K-12 teachers, and about 12% are post-secondary students. A smaller proportion of our members come from other sectors such as informal education and industry, or are retired.

Gender

Just under half of our members identify as women, and just over a third identify as men. A substantial proportion (about 17%) have not provided a response to this question in their member profile. 2021 was the first year in which we added the "non-binary" option.
