Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award

Three quarterly winners of the Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award are selected each year. Awardees each receive a one-year free membership in both NAGT and the Geo2YC Division. Their profile is published in the Division's quarterly newsletter, Geo2YC Foundations, and their supervisors are notified by the committee.

During the fourth quarter of each calendar year, one of the three quarterly awardees is selected as the annual awardee (via a poll of the Geo2YC membership). This annual awardee receives a $1000 stipend from McGraw-Hill to be used for professional development or classroom support.

Nominations

Do you work with, or are you, an adjunct or part-time instructor who does great work at a 2yc and deserves to be recognized?

Please fill out the following nomination form to recognize the great work our adjunct faculty do to support student learning at the two-year colleges. The form must be filled out in one session; we ask for brief descriptions of reasons for nominations and contact information at the department and school level to assure full recognition. Former winners of the annual award can not be nominated again.

Anyone may nominate a faculty member for the award; self-nominations are encouraged. You do not need to be a current member of NAGT or the Geo2YC Division to be nominated.

To qualify, adjuncts must presently be teaching geoscience at a two-year college.

Composition of the committee

An OAFA selection committee reviews nominees for the award, and selects an awardee during each of the first three quarters of the year. The OAFA selection committee consists of four individuals who serve two-year terms, and may continue for additional terms.

The current membership of the committee is:

Michelle Cauley, Dakota State at Bottineau, 2024-2025 [Chair 2024]

Wendi Williams, South Texas College, 2024-2025

Joy Branlund, Northeastern Junior College, 2020 - 2024
