Proposed Bylaws Revisions January 2020

The NAGT-GER Division Executive Committee proposes the following changes to the bylaws in order to i) specify two-year term lengths for the Media Director and Graduate Student Liaison positions, and ii) clarify that all elected officers must be dues-paying members for the duration of their terms. Revision Procedure and Deadlines:

Prior to voting on the by-laws revision, the Executive Board will respond to comments and concerns submitted during the 60 day comment period (2/1/2020 to 3/31/2020).

Per the NAGT by-laws, the GER Officers are required to notify members 60 days prior to voting on the bylaws. A two-thirds majority of Executive Board members must approve the bylaws. GER officers will inform members about the result of the vote by May 4, 2020. A quorum of at least 20% of GER members is needed to oppose the bylaws after they are ratified. This quorum must submit a written opposition to incoming Division President Katherine Ryker (kryker@seoe.sc.edu) by February 4, 2018 in order to hold the bylaws in abeyance until the next annual election of officers.

February 1, 2020: GER bylaws sent to membership; notification of intended vote to approve bylaws by April 10.

April 1-10, 2020: GER officers vote on intended bylaws change

On or before May 4, 2020: If passed, notification that the bylaws were adopted and a reminder that a quorum may be formed to object to them.

June 4, 2020: If no quorum has objected to the bylaws, they officially go into effect today.
